TULSA, Okla. — A check was presented to the Saint Francis Foundation to help Saint Francis victims’ families and employees.
Tulsa Crime Stoppers and Mythic Press raised $65 thousand in t-shirt sales to give to the Saint Francis Strong fund with the Tulsa Community Foundation. Proceeds will be used to provide support and resources for the victims’ families and employees.
“To see the City of Tulsa and surrounding communities support us in our time of need, it’s just heartwarming,” said Associate Chief Medical Officer at Saint Francis Dr. Ryan Parker.
On June 1, four people were killed in the Saint Francis Natalie Medical Building by a lone gunman.
Since that tragic day, the city of Tulsa has turned pink. Mythic Press printed around 4,500 pink shirts and they’re popping up all over town.
“Pink represents something to us. It’s a love for community, a desire to help people, a desire to support. When I go to a Drillers game or see people at the grocery store in that shirt, I tear up because you can really feel that from the people around you,” said Parker.
The money is going straight to the victims’ families, Saint Francis employees and people impacted by the shooting.
“Our original goal was $50 thousand, which was going to be our largest fundraiser,” said Cole Cunningham, the owner of Mythic Press. “But we just exceeded that, I’m pleased to say, and hit $65 grand.”
As the grief from the day still lingers, the healing continues. It’s the bright moments like this Dr. Parker said we must hold on to.
“I think that’s become exceedingly clear to me in these days, is we need to be there for each other in our communities,” Parker said.
The fundraiser is over, but they’re still taking orders. Cunningham said orders keep coming in and they’re printing a thousand more shirts this week.
