The Demand Project raising support through Rally Cry for children impacted by sex crimes

JENKS, Okla. — The Demand Project [TDP] is a Tulsa-based non-profit organization founded in 2013. Its sole mission is dedicated, to eliminating sex crimes against children. TDP works to provide access to legal counsel for victims of sexual violence and abuse, offering Victim Advocate Support Team to assist law enforcement, and giving survivors resources on their journey back to empowerment.

“We are one of the only organizations in this state that are partnering with law enforcement to get kids a safe place. We also have the nation’s largest Restoration campus for children. We can house 30 children. Right now we have seven at our campus,” said Jaime Miller, Donor Developer and Fundraising Coordinator at TDP

According to Miller, funding is key to allowing the organization to continue this work in the community.

This Saturday TDP will be holding its 6th Rally Cry fundraising event on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.

“The Demand Project is holding a walk. And every year we call this walk our Rally Cry. It is literally a cry for soldiers to come together for one cause and to support a cause and that cause for us is helping children recover out of sex trafficking because that is literally the first step to restoration,” said Miller.  “We’re going to be having a full day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. of activities, speakers, different types of entertainment, and then the opportunity to walk.”

The event is family-friendly and even dog friendly.  The trek will start at the Jenks Riverwalk and end at the River Spirit Casino.

Monica Hathcoat is a Zumba instructor who will bring her dance skills to the event on Saturday.

“I am here to bring smiles, and bring light.” said Hathcoat.

Hathcoat will lead a 30-minute, modified fun Zumba workout session before the walk for all levels of fitness to enjoy.

“To be a part of this cause has always been close to my heart and I want to help in any way that I can,” said Hathcoat.
