BRISTOW, Okla. — Last November, FOX23 told you about an investigation into an animal rescue in Bristow.
Tanya Dee Stice was connected to Redoing Rescue and Rescued Heirlooms. Following our initial investigation in November 2021, the Redoing Rescue Facebook page has been removed.
However, the Rescued Heirlooms page is still active.
The investigation was launched after a woman from a rescue in Oklahoma City was searching for a foster home for a brown lab named Hadley. Stice said she could foster the dog. Amber Hunsucker told FOX23 Stice informed her Hadley died, so Hunsucker says she drove to Bristow to pick up Hadley’s body.
Hunsucker claims that Stice said Hadley was hit by a car. When Hunsucker went to retrieve Hadley’s body, she saw dismembered dogs strewn across the property.
“Dog’s head, paw, leg, they just throw these away, other parts, part of a dog, another dog, another dog, who are these people?” Hunsucker said.
Hunsucker told FOX23 it also looked as if Hadley died following a dog attack.
Hunsucker reported the scene to the Creek County Sheriff’s Office, who launched an investigation.
19 dogs were removed from the property, and Stice was charged with cruelty to animals, a felony charge. She was also charged with two counts of unlawful disposal of a carcass, a misdemeanor.
Stice was in court last week, but the judge postponed the hearing until next month, Sept. 23. The court clerk says that the prosecution will present evidence, and the judge will decide if there is enough to move towards a trial.
Stice has previously pleaded not guilty. Just for the felony animal abuse charge, she could face up to five years in prison plus could have to pay a $5,000 fee.
