TULSA, Okla. — It didn’t start out as the best birthday for Len Wade, managing partner to Ike’s Chili a Route 66 staple near Peoria.

In a video posted to his Facebook page, Wade explains it was not the start he wanted to his birthday. He says vandals destroyed the restaurants electric meter and cut their cable lines knocking out their computer and cash register.

According to Wade’s Facebook post, he was at the lake celebrating his birthday when he heard the news.

Just an hour after his post, the business was able to get power and announced it would be open.

Wade says “we are survivors” possibly referencing vandalism at the business just the month before as well where a man threw a flower pots, water meter covers and rocks into the windows of several Route 66 businesses, including Ike’s.
