Lights, camera, action: Jenks is now an official film friendly certified city

JENKS, Okla. — The City of Jenks has met all the requirements to become a certified film-friendly destination for media productions through the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF-MO) Film Friendly Community Program.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the City of Jenks to our growing roster of film-friendly certified communities throughout the state of Oklahoma,” said the OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton.

OF+MO founded the film-friendly program in Oklahoma in 2010. Bartlesville, Broken Arrow, Muskogee and Tulsa have all completed the requirements to achieve the OF-MO film-friendly certification.

The City of Sapulpa is also now film friendly certified and open to all the possibilities the film industry could bring to the Oklahoma town.

To qualify to become officially film-friendly with OF-MO, each city must appoint a liaison representative, submit at least 10 potential filming locations from the area to the Oklahoma Location Directory and create a city film permit.

Productions such as the ABC TV series “Great Christmas Light Fight,” TBN’s faith-based series “In the Gap,” and the independent feature film comedy “Braking for Whales,” have all been shot on location in Jenks.

“We want to welcome the growing film industry with open arms to our community. The community of Jenks takes great pride in its small-town charm and welcoming environment, and we look forward to hosting production crews in the future,” said Lane Castleberry, Jenks Chamber of Commerce Director of Communications and Film Liaison.

A few sites available for filming on-location are, the Jenks Riverwalk, the Oklahoma Aquarium, downtown Jenks, Five Oaks Lodge, Spain Ranch, The Hive, the Jenks Pedestrian Bridge and Jenks High School.

Correction: An earlier version of this article indicated the City of Sapulpa had not yet been certified, but was actually granted certification on the same day as the City of Jenks. This has been corrected.
