Local man remembers girlfriend who died in Jenks crash

JENKS, Okla. — The boyfriend of a Sapulpa woman who died after driving off the Creek Turnpike and crashing into Jenks home is paying tribute to her and said he doesn’t know how the crash happened.

Drew Stanley had been dating 29 year old Mckenzie Gee for about a year, and now he’s trying to come to terms with her loss.

“This is a really sad thing, if you got somebody you love in your life, let them know, because it can happen so quickly,” he said.

Gee died Thursday when her truck left the Creek Turnpike, drove through a fence and ploughed into a Jenks home in the Southern Reserve neighborhood. The home caught fire and flames could be seen shooting through the roof.

“I saw drone footage and people said it looked like Hell in the neighborhood and I know that she’s going to Heaven but I’m sure it did look like Hell,” said Stanley.

No one in the house was hurt, but the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) told FOX23 they’re still trying to figure out why Gee veered off the road.

“Normally when that happens like that, it’s a medical incident or something like that, it’s not something you continue to drive that, that path after you’ve left the roadway,” said OHP Trooper Eric Foster.

Stanley said before the crash Gee had left work and was heading to her home in Sapulpa. He also said she was wearing her seatbelt and he doesn’t know what happened.

“It doesn’t even seem possible, kind of with how we normally go the Glenpool way, she had to have driven about 700 yards off track, so I don’t know how that even happens,” he said.

Stanley also said Gee was kind, giving and outgoing.

He said she loved horses and her dog and two cats. He also said she was a personal trainer with a passion for health and fitness.

“She was just a great spirit, she was really giving, she helped me through things that I was going through and I helped her through things that she was going through, and I don’t know why it happened, it’s horrible,” he said.

Stanley also said Gee also had just recovered after being badly burnt in a sauna accident earlier this year.

“She was really making positive changes in her life and progressing and fighting and staying strong after her accident, she was getting her weight back,” he said.

Stanley said he loved Gee and that she was a truly good person who is now in Heaven.

“We loved each other, I helped her with things, she helped me with things, she gave everything that she had,” Stanley said. “Not a lot of people have much, but she gave everything she had to help out situations, and she was a truly good person and I believe she’s in Heaven now.”

A GoFundMe been set up to help with Gee’s funeral costs.

There is also a GoFundMe to help the people who’s house was destroyed by the fire.
