Be Heard uses Giving Tuesday donations to buy a warming station

TULSA, Okla. — The Be Heard Movement was founded in Tulsa to bring clothes, showers and resources to Tulsa’s homeless population and help them find work and homes.

But it’s reach is as far away as New Zealand.

The non-profit organization took in double last year’s donations in Giving Tuesday from other states as well.

Evan Dougoud is the president and founder of Be Heard.

“Last year we raised $9,000 in 24 hours. This year, we set a goal to raise $15,000, and however, we ended up with over $21,000,” he said.

They also received more than $20,000 in hygiene products for the next year’s worth of mobile shower and laundry services.

The group will put half of that money forward a trailer that will bike outfitted as a mobile warming station and the other half toward its annual budget.

On Wednesday, the Be Heard movement, as it’s called, reflecting its goal to expand to other areas, was at In the Spirit Church providing showers, laundry facilities and phone charging stations for people who are homeless.
