Glenpool man in a medical facility 142 days and counting following COVID complications

GLENPOOL, Okla. — Danny Remington, 37, of Glenpool spent his 142nd night Friday night away from home and in his 7th medical facility since he tested positive for Covid-19 in late August.

“It’s like a train ran over me and backed up and ran over me again,” he said in a conversation his family recorded and shared with FOX23 News.

The married father of two spent 70 days in the ICU, was on a ventilator twice and nearly died twice according to his wife, Shannon.

She says he has faced one complication after another even after he no longer tested positive for the virus.

She had her own difficult battle with the virus but was able to stay at home with their two kids who also tested positive but did not experience symptoms.

Danny is now in a skilled nursing facility in Bristow. Being bedridden for 5 months, he has lost 70 pounds. His weight was his only comorbidity, according to his wife.

“Covid diet, 100% would not recommend,” she joked saying she has to keep her sense of humor to help her get through this.

She’s also relying heavily on their faith and says, “God is not done with him here on Earth.”

Their two children have only been able to see their dad in person twice. They were able to give him a quick hug while he was being transferred from one facility to another by ambulance.

His circulation and clotting issues have led to what the family described as “dry gangrene” in some of his fingers and toes.

Now that his circulation is improving and he’s starting to heal, they’re hoping there will be no need for amputation.

With anticipated medical bills from all seven facilities, ambulance rides and future follow up care, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family: https://gofund.me/0c6cf710.
