How Tulsa International Airport plans to avoid delays this winter

TULSA, Okla. — Winter has arrived in Green Country, and crew members at Tulsa International Airport are ready for the weather.

They have several specialized pieces of equipment to help them deal with snow and ice.

Each piece costs around $1,000,000.

Cole Brown is the Director of Operations at Tulsa International Airport. He said the new plow and broom machinery can completely clear the 150-foot runway in about 20 minutes.

Tulsans have named three pieces of the fleet; Chuckwagon, Yellow Jacket, and B.O.S.S., which stands for Big Ol’ Snow Shovel.

The equipment is essential to keeping air travel moving through Tulsa, with safe landings and takeoffs, to avoid delays.
