Retired officer says midtown shop denied tattoo of his badge

TULS, Okla. — -Sam McCoy wanted his badge tattooed to commemorate his 43 year law enforcement career.

-He spent the last 19 years with Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority and retired in July.

-He and his daughter Christine were going to get tattoos together as a bonding moment.

-She wanted one to honor her 12 years of military service.

-They told FOX23 the discussion with an employee at Black Gold Tattoo seemed to be going great but once she spoke with the artists, the employee told Sam the artists didn’t want to do the tattoo.

-He asked if it was because he was in law enforcement and he says the employee said that was the reason.

-McCoy’s Facebook post and screenshots about the incident have now been shared thousands of times.
