Tulsa facility gives 105 free Thanksgiving meals to patients, families

TULSA, Okla. — With Thanksgiving coming up next week, and inflation still burdening families, many of them can’t afford the traditional holiday meal, especially if they’re also struggling with their health.

Sheila Johnson says Tulsa’s Parkside Patient Assistance Program has helped her with her mental health recovery and with getting on her feet with the assistance they provide.

On Tuesday, the program gave Johnson and about 100 other patients a turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and green beans at a drive-thru food distribution so they can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

More than just a holiday helping hand, the Parkside By Your Side Patient Assistance Program helps patients with the necessities and the extras year-round and is supported by donations from the hospital staff, board members and members of the community.

The non-profit Lawyers Fighting Hunger provided the food for Tuesday’s Thanksgiving dinner give-away.
