Oklahoma high school softball player signs NIL deal

PIEDMONT, Okla. — An Oklahoma high school sophomore is the second athlete in the state to sign a NIL deal.

Piedmont High School softball player Taybor Moss recently signed with Northern California based company Moore Bats.

Moss was a customer of the company that produces custom wood bats and liked how it was helping her with training even before approaching owner Darin Moore.

“It was a perfect fit,” said Moore, who has been in business since 2021. “She already bought the bat. She was familiar with the products.”

Now Moss plans to keep track of her performance while using the bat to see her progress through the season.

Moss, who is Cherokee, is also the first Native American in the country to sign a NIL deal, her mom Lisa said.

In 2022, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association approved for high school athletes to endorse products and services after a NIL law was passed.

For Moore, he said he’s excited to work with Moss and maybe more Oklahoma athletes in the future if it’s the right fit.
