Old Hollywood comes to Tulsa for one classic night at the 1923 Harwelden Mansion

The classic film "Tulsa" will be screened at a 1923 mansion on May 12.

TULSA, Okla. — The Historic Harwelden Mansion and the Circle Cinema will be holding a special movie night in Tulsa on May 12.

The classic film, “Tulsa” will be screened on the picturesque grounds of Harwelden Mansion which was built in 1923.

“100,000 people came to see it in Tulsa, when it first came out in 1949. So it obviously is a great movie!” said Haley Smalley the Harwelden Mansion manager. “This will be our second year showing a movie on the lawn.”

“Tulsa” is an American Western action flick starring Susan Hayward and Robert Preston. It also features Ed Begley in one of his earliest film roles. The storyline centers around a rancher in Tulsa who loses his life during a feud with a powerful oil company. The rancher’s daughter, fueled by revenge and greed starts drilling for oil all for herself.

The cost of a ticket for the event is $50 and that includes a cocktail reception following the movie, an individual charcuterie box, delicate sweets, champagne, wine, beer or ginger ale.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs.

The event will be brought inside, if it rains.

All sales will support the Heritage Society of Tulsa and Circle Cinema.
