The Oklahoma City Mayor, David Holt remembered Gray Frederickson in a social media post.

“To win the Oscar for Best Picture is one of the greatest accomplishments in modern culture, and as such, Gray is one of the most accomplished people to have ever come from our city. The video of that moment is below, which is fun to watch, half a century later. It was the high point of an amazing career, all of which started when Gray was a kid ushering at the Lakeside movie theater at May and Grand. His film career would have been enough to make him a legend, but then for him to return to OKC and build our city’s film industry as he did - it was an incredible gift,” said Mayor Holt.
