Sinkhole on Riverside in midtown has been filled in

TULSA, Okla. — Police officers were blocking lanes of a midtown Tulsa road, where a sinkhole was creating dangerous driving conditions.

Tulsa police vehicles blocked two lanes of traffic on Riverside Drive southbound at West 21st Street next to a sinkhole in the road.

The sinkhole was about 10 feet wide and 8 feet deep.

Police were called to direct traffic around the sinkhole around 6:30 a.m. after three cars had driven across the sinkhole and two cars had to be towed. No injuries were reported.

The City of Tulsa will work to repair and fill the sinkhole. City crews are running tests to figure out what caused the sinkhole. Crews told FOX23 they don’t know if there’s a threat of more sinkholes in the area.
