TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Red Cross took to their social media to advise residents across Green Country on how to prepare for and stay safe during severe weather.
The organization also advised that residents bring pets indoors and keep a close eye on them. Additionally, items outside should be moved or secured immediately so nothing can be picked up by the wind.
They emphasized to residents that everyone should be ready immediately to get to a safe place.

During a tornado warning, the organization advises you go to a safe place immediately. Safe places to take shelter from a tornado include:
- A small, windowless room in the interior of your home or a hallway on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
- A basement or storm cellar.
The Oklahoma Red Cross explained that mobile homes aren’t safe during a tornado.
