In a news release, the West Palm Beach Police Department said its officers were called to the Springhill Suites Hotel after a 5-year-old boy was pulled from the pool and not breathing.

Police said the 5-year-old boy had been with his family and a group of approximately 20 people at the pool when he began to drown, WPTV reported. The little boy’s 6-year-old sister grabbed the boy from the bottom of the pool, and an 11-year-old girl also helped get the boy out.

In a 911 call obtained by WPEC, screaming and crying are audible in the background as the caller says the child is out of the water and the dispatcher gives instructions to perform CPR.

West Palm Beach police said in the news release that the first officer arrived on the scene within two minutes and the child was breathing. The 5-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he was described as “conscious, but not fully alert.”
