Angel Vasquez was sentenced to five years of probation, with the first two to be served under house arrest, WINK reported. Vasquez is also required to take a parenting course and submit to random drug screenings.

Vasquez was arrested after taking his 18-month-old son to the hospital on Nov. 16, thinking the child might have eaten an oxycodone pill, The Fort Myers News-Press reported. The child was treated with two doses of Narcan, and while no oxycodone was found in drug screenings, doctors did find fentanyl, the newspaper reported.

The child’s mother was also initially arrested and accused of flushing pills down the toilet at the home, WBBH reported. Those charges were later dismissed.

Vasquez confirmed to police he had no prescription for fentanyl, The News-Press reported.
