A Tulsa woman is speaking out after surviving a brutal attack last week.

On Friday, Oct. 28, Tulsa Police officers responded to a call near 11th and HWY 169 around 2:15 a.m.

At the scene, officers found Christopher Pruitt covered in blood. He was arrested and admitted to police that he stabbed his girlfriend. Police said a knife was recovered at the scene, but the tip of the blade was missing.

Patricia, who declined to give her last name, said she was stabbed 15 times all over her body. She was rushed to Saint Francis for treatment, where staff told responding officers that she would likely lose her eye. Police also said the tip of the blade was found lodged in her skull.

“I thought he was just punching me,” Patricia recalled. “I guess I was stabbed 15 times.”

Patricia said her 4-year-old child witnessed the attack.

“My daughter was standing in the doorway. I was choking on my own blood,” she said. “I could taste … I can still taste [the blood].”

Patricia recalled that Pruitt became hostile towards her two weeks before the attack when she wanted to end their relationship. He threatened her, and Patricia said she filed for an emergency protective order. The court granted the order, and Pruitt was forced to move out of their home.

The day before the attack, the protective order expired. She said she tried to make an online court date, but her Wi-Fi connection was bad. She called the courthouse at the time and explained her situation, and she was told the judge will try to make sure the order wasn’t dismissed.

The day of the attack, Patricia said she spoke to Pruitt about co-parenting.

While talking to police, Pruitt admitted to strangling Patricia until she passed out after stabbing her multiple times early Friday morning.

Patricia also told FOX23 she suffered a broken jaw, had multiple blood transfusions and will lose her eye. She was in surgery for eight hours after arriving at the hospital. She was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two days and was discharged from the hospital Tuesday.

“EMSA said I had a 50/50 chance of surviving. The police said this is the worst attack they’ve seen that didn’t end in homicide,” she told FOX23. “I’m a walking miracle.”

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) gave Patricia’s children to her mother while she looks for a new place to live.

“My four year old is traumatized,” she said. “All she keeps saying at her Grandma’s is ‘My mommy’s hurt. My mommy’s hurt.’”

“I pulled through,” Patricia continued. “My kids are my motivation. I love my kids.”

Pruitt pleaded not guilty in court Monday. According to court records, his preliminary hearing is Nov. 28. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

“He already said he wants to take it to trial,” she said. “He wants to fight the charges, and I don’t know why.”

Oklahoma currently ranks second in the U.S. for women killed by their domestic partners. If you need help, reach out to DVIS.

A GoFundMe is set up for Patricia to help with medical expenses.
