Former OSU Cowboy Lindy Waters III gets shot with OKC Thunder

Former Oklahoma State Cowboy Lindy Waters III gets to wear an Oklahoma City Thunder jersey. It was a long, hard journey for Waters to make it to the NBA, but he finally made it.

The thunder announced Thursday that the team signed Waters to a two-way contract.

Waters played four seasons in Stillwater -- from 2016 though 2020. The Norman native didn’t get picked in the NBA Draft. So he played for the Enid Outlaws, a minor league basketball team. Then he went to the Oklahoma City blue, the Thunder’s G League team.

Waters has played in 28 games for the Blue. He’s averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.11 steals in 19.9 minutes per game. He’s shooting 48.8 percent from beyond the arc during the regular season, which ranks fourth in the G League.

A two-way contract means the team can move Waters back and forth from the G League’s Blue to the NBA’s Thunder.
