Max Abmas’ historic run with ORU continues

ORU junior guard Max Abmas has already built up quite the impressive resume for the Golden Eagles. Earlier this season, he moved into the schools Top-10 of their All-Time scoring list, while currently ranking 4th in the country in points per game at just under 23. But his achievements go much further than just scoring the basketball. Last season as a sophomore, the shooting guard helped lead his team to the NCAA Tournament where they went on a run all the way to the Sweet 16. He was named the Summit League Player of the Year.

But many weren’t sure they’d ever seem him in an ORU jersey again after that run. Many NBA draft boards had Abmas projected to be a late 1st-round pick. But after a long consideration and talking it over with his coaches and family, he decided to return to ORU for another year, and hasn’t looked back.

This year he was tabbed as a Preseason All-American, as well as the Preseason Summit League Player of the Year and his play has shown why. After spending a season working on improving his frame, he has gotten stronger going to the basket and has expanded his game as a facilitator and defender as well. He has far from reached all of his goals, but he is far from being done chasing them as well.
