Markwayne Mullin wins election to U.S. Senate

TULSA, Okla. — “We did it!”

Republican Markwayne Mullin won election to Jim Inhofe’s U.S. Senate seat, according to the Associated Press.

Mullin defeated former Congresswoman Kendra Horn (D), who flipped an Oklahoma House seat blue in 2018.

“Sitting back and doing nothing isn’t OK and there isn’t a person in this room who has done that,” Mullin said in his first speech since the Senate seat was called. “Nobody will work harder than us in Washington, D.C. to get this country back on track.”

Sen.-elect Mullin, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, will be the first Native American in the U.S. Senate since 2005.

“The red wave just started!” Mullin exclaimed Tuesday evening. “This left agenda even tried to come at us here in Oklahoma... we said no!”

FOX23 News This Morning will be speaking to Sen.-elect Mullin at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.
