Ivon Adams, accused killer of Athena Brownfield, arrives in Oklahoma

CADDO COUNTY, Okla. — UPDATE (1/19; 10:08 p.m.) — Ivon Adams was booked into Caddo county Jail at 8:57 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Ivon Adams, the man accused of killing Athena Brownfield, is returning to Oklahoma.

Adams is accused of beating the 4-year-old to death on Christmas Day. Adams and his wife, Alysia, were Athena’s caregivers.

The search for Athena began when her older sister was found walking outside alone. A postal worker found the child and called police. The child said she was “tired of being alone” and her sister was missing.

Alysia Adams, who was arrested on two counts of child neglect, told investigators that Ivon beat Athena to death and then buried her body in Rush Springs.

Human remains were found this week, but have not yet been confirmed as Athena.

Ivon Adams was caught in Arizona, where he was taken into custody. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
