Pass go and collect $200 with MONOPOLY: Tulsa Edition coming soon

TULSA, Okla. — Mayor G.T. Bynum announced on Thursday the city is getting its very own MONOPOLY: Tulsa Edition.

The game will feature Tulsa staple landmarks and locations like the Philbrook Museum, the BOK Center and The Gathering Place.

“We are so excited to announce that Tulsa is officially going to be the next city to pass go,” said Katie Hubbard with Top Trumps USA, a Hasbro licensing partner.

Bynum took part in the process of creating the game and hosted, along with Tulsa Regional Tourism Office President Renee McKenney, a special press announcement on Thursday morning at City Hall.

“I am honored to have Tulsa represented in one of the most popular games in the world. To be selected for the MONOPOLY: Tulsa Edition speaks volumes about our city and the many landmarks that make Tulsa unique,” Bynum said. “I want to thank Top Trumps USA for choosing Tulsa and I’m eager for Tulsans and other to get a chance to celebrate our city in this new and exciting way.”

McKenney said tourism has grown within the city and this game will allow it to flourish further.

“There has never been a better time to be in tourism until set. So I hope everybody is very excited about that. And then to have this honor to be part of Monopoly and for everyone to get to see our attractions on the board. So I just wanna thank you all for your excitement there,” McKenney said.

The Mayo Hotel, Tulsa Zoo and Guthrie Green will also be new locations on the board that can be claimed to drain other players for all the monopoly money they’re worth.

Bynum said it is an honor for Tulsa to be the only city in Oklahoma recognized by Monopoly.

“Tulsa is blessed with a rich variety of attractions and landmarks which will replace the famous classic MONOPOLY streets. We expect to be flooded with ideas about which properties to feature in MONOPOLY: Tulsa Edition,” says Dennis Gavaghen from Top Trumps USA, makers of the new game.

Hubbard said the game is not yet finished so suggestions are more than welcome.

“We’re really excited to represent the best of Tulsa on this edition. You know, everything from your cultural, iconic sites to your museums, the shops that you love to go to, your favorite restaurants, your school, we’re gonna feature education on this board. So I’m really excited about that as well,” Hubbard said. “I’ve heard some rivalries already within the city, but I’m really excited to bring that to life with you guys. So I would love to hear your suggestions. What do you want to see on this board?”
