TULSA, Okla. — Flu season is underway and the Tulsa Health Department is giving FOX23 a look at the damage caused by past seasons.
Ellen Niemitalo from the Tulsa Health Department said it is impossible to predict just how bad an upcoming flu season will be. Last flu season there were more than 290 flu-related deaths along with thousands of hospitalizations.
The long flu season peaks at the end of January and into the beginning of February.
The health departments said more than 400 people died in Oklahoma from the flu the last two flu seasons, but the season before that only saw 16 people die in the state.
